Industrial Double-Spindle CNC Router

Double Spindle CNC Router K45MT-DT

Run two 4.5 kW spindle heads on separate Z axes for repeated furniture, door, panel, sign and custom routing work. The dual-head layout is built for jobs where one or two tools cover most of the cycle and where parallel machining can keep both heads productive.

1300 × 2500 × 200 mm 2 × 4.5 kW Spindles 18,000 rpm Vacuum + T-Slot Table

When two parts can be arranged safely under the two heads, K45MT-DT can machine matched operations in parallel. For mixed jobs, one head can be lifted out of the work area while the other is used. Actual production gain depends on part spacing, toolpath, loading time, material and cycle balance.

Where K45MT-DT Fits in Production

This machine is strongest when repeated flat-part work can use two spindle heads efficiently. It is a practical choice for stable product families rather than a general replacement for every ATC, drilling or five-axis process.

Furniture & Cabinet Parts

MDF, plywood, particle board, melamine board and solid wood parts for cabinets, doors, tables, panels and custom furniture components.

Signs & Sheet Materials

Acrylic, PVC, plastic, foam and aluminum composite panel for cutting, grooving, engraving, lettering and repeated profile work.

Custom & Batch Machining

Repeated parts, mirrored components, routing, drilling with spindle-mounted tools, grooving, engraving, carving and sheet cutting when the head layout matches the job.

Two Separate Z Axes Solve Two Different Production Problems

The two spindle heads are mounted on separate Z axes. That lets the machine use one head at a time when the job needs a single cutter, or use both heads for matched operations when the part layout and program support parallel machining.

  • Use two identical cutters to machine repeated parts at the same time.
  • Lift one head and continue with the other when only one spindle is needed.
  • Reduce manual cutter-change interruptions when the process mainly alternates between one or two tools.
  • Review an upgraded control setup when different tools or asynchronous head operation are required.

We recommend planning the actual head spacing and part layout before the machine configuration is finalized. This avoids buying a second spindle that sits idle on most jobs.

Choose It for Repeated Work — Not for Every CNC Job

A Strong Fit

  • Repeated or mirrored furniture and door components.
  • Stable batches where two parts can be positioned within the working area.
  • Programs dominated by one or two tools.
  • Cutting, grooving, drilling and engraving on compatible flat materials.
  • Workshops that want more output from one table without moving directly to a larger multi-head layout.

Choose Another Configuration When

  • Every part is different and the second head would remain unused.
  • A single part requires many tools in one cycle; an ATC router is usually the cleaner route.
  • Dense cabinet drilling needs a dedicated drill bank or six-side drilling process.
  • Complex multi-face machining requires four-axis or five-axis motion.
  • Soft aluminum work exceeds the rigidity, tooling or chip-control needs of a routing process.

Structure Built Around Parallel Routing Work

K45MT-DT uses rack-and-pinion drive on X/Y, ball-screw drive on Z, square linear guides and a vacuum T-slot table. The table supports vacuum hold-down for sheet work while the T-slots give another clamping route for parts that need mechanical restraint.

The two spindle assemblies are the defining feature. Separate vertical movement gives more process flexibility than a fixed paired-head layout because an unused head can be raised out of the cutting zone.

For MDF, plywood, particle board and solid wood, dust collection should be planned as part of the installation. Dust volume, hood coverage, duct length and the existing collector all affect chip removal and vacuum sealing.

Configure the Two Heads Around the Real Cycle

Production needRecommended setup directionWhy it matters
Two repeated parts with the same operationUse matched tools in both spindle heads and plan part spacing around simultaneous machining.Keeps both heads productive and can increase output without adding another table.
One part, two main toolsUse the two heads as a simple two-tool process when the program and control setup support the sequence.Reduces manual tool-change interruption compared with a single-spindle non-ATC router.
Different tools or asynchronous head movementReview an upgraded control configuration before order confirmation.Independent toolpaths require more than simply mounting two cutters.
Frequent multi-tool machining on one complex partMove to an ATC CNC router.A real tool changer is more scalable when the process routinely needs several cutters.
Higher repeated-part volumeReview additional spindle heads and usable table width.More heads only make sense when part size and batch volume keep them occupied.

Working Size, Spindle Count and Control Can Be Matched to the Job

The current K45MT-DT configuration uses two 4.5 kW air-cooled spindles and a 1300 × 2500 × 200 mm working area. The product family can be configured around different process needs, including machine size and spindle quantity. A 4.5 kW water-cooled spindle option can also be discussed when the operating environment or cooling preference makes it a better fit.

We can configure the machine around part dimensions, batch quantity, head spacing, tool count, material, workholding, dust extraction, software and factory utilities. Customization is confirmed in the technical proposal; it is not assumed to be included in the base machine.

Tooling, Workholding and Sample Cutting

Tool choice changes edge quality, chip evacuation and how much load each spindle sees. Typical starting points include compression cutters for laminated wood panels, spiral carbide tools for solid wood, O-flute cutters for acrylic and plastic, and suitable carbide tooling for light soft-aluminum routing.

The vacuum T-slot table supports both vacuum hold-down and mechanical clamping. Small parts, porous boards and narrow strips may need zoning, spoilboard preparation, gasketing or clamps to prevent movement.

For soft aluminum, send the alloy, thickness, depth per pass and finish requirement. We can propose tooling, air blast or lubrication, hold-down and a sample test before the final process is released.

Testing, Quality Control and Compliance Scope

Every Quick CNC machine is assembled, inspected and tested before shipment. Quick CNC's quality-control framework across its product series includes CMM inspection, laser interferometer testing, Ballbar testing and 24–72-hour continuous-operation testing.

The exact inspection combination, running duration and measured acceptance results for your K45MT-DT order are controlled by the production and acceptance plan. If you need a specific sample cut, send the material and drawing before the machine is finalized.

For CE or other destination-market documentation, send the exact destination and required document before order confirmation so the applicable scope can be checked.

Double Spindle, ATC or Another Multi-Head Layout?

A Practical Production Scenario: Repeated Door and Panel Components

Finished cabinet and furniture environment representing panel furniture production

Consider a workshop producing repeated door inserts, cabinet components or decorative panels. If two matched workpieces can be placed under the heads and both use the same cutter, the machine can run the same operation on both parts in one cycle.

When a second operation uses another tool, the process can be planned around the second head where the control setup supports it. If the product mix changes constantly or each part needs many tools, the advantage quickly falls away and an ATC configuration becomes more practical.

The decision should be based on a real batch layout, not only the number of spindles. Send one representative drawing and target batch quantity and we will match the head strategy to the process.

K45MT-DT FAQ

Can the two spindles work separately?

Yes. K45MT-DT uses two spindle heads with separate Z axes, so one head can be raised while the other is used. If your process needs different tools or asynchronous sequences, we will match the control configuration to that requirement.

When is simultaneous two-head machining useful?

It is most useful for repeated or mirrored parts when two workpieces can be positioned within the usable table area and both heads can follow the planned operation safely. Output gain depends on the real cycle rather than simply having two spindles.

Should I choose K45MT-DT or an ATC CNC router?

Choose the dual-spindle layout when one or two tools cover most of the cycle or when two repeated parts can be machined in parallel. Choose ATC when one part routinely needs several tools and frequent automatic changes.

Can it process acrylic and plastic?

Yes, with suitable tooling, workholding and cutting parameters. Send the material type, thickness and required edge finish so we can plan the cutter and sample-cut route.

Can it machine soft aluminum?

Soft aluminum can be evaluated for suitable routing work, but alloy, thickness, depth per pass, tooling, lubrication or air blast, workholding and chip evacuation must be reviewed. We recommend a sample test before the final process is confirmed.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Send part drawings, material and thickness, part size, batch quantity, repeated-part layout, required operations, software, target output, factory voltage, destination country and any sample-test requirement.
